In 2021 Matsena Productions got the team together once again, but this time in their home town of Swansea - To start a phase of research and development for their upcoming production, ‘Shades of Blue’. This film showcase the intense week of R & D that the company went through as they fleshed out different ideas and started to build something special.

In the 2nd edition to the Shades of Blue behind the scenes series, the Matsena team take us on a journey through their creation process as they take the ideas developed during their Swansea Research and Development session and now try to implement them into something greater as they begin to put together their original piece ‘Shades of Blue’. This part of the journey took place at Sadlers Wells, were the team spent 1 week in the studio crafting and choreographing before sharing their ideas to an audience of invited guests where they received feedback and notes on the work so far.

Matsena were set to return to Sadlers Wells several months later where they are to debut the final piece on the Sadlers Main Stage.

In early 2022, The Matsena Productions project ‘Shades of Blue’ reached its climax - where the team had finally finished putting together their theatrical instalment and it was time to start showcasing the work to the world. The piece debuted at Dance East in Ipswich to a small audience before graduating to the Sadlers Wells Main stage several weeks later.

This trailer was filmed at the Dance East showing of ‘Shades of Blue’ and was used to promote the show online in order to gain hype around the project and entice people to come and witness the show in person at Sadlers Wells. This video is also the culmination of a the 3 part ‘Shades of Blue’ behind the scenes series that we produced - following Matsena Productions along the creative process.
